What Are Dentures?

Dentures are natural-looking prostheses designed to replace missing teeth. Jersey City Dental offers full, partial, and implant-supported dentures for patients who qualify.

Partial dentures are appropriate for people who have healthy natural teeth remaining in the upper or lower jaw, while full dentures replace an entire dental arch.

Dentures Address All Types of Tooth Loss

Traditional vs. Implant-Supported Dentures

Depending on your needs and preferences, we can provide implant-supported or traditional removable restorations to patients from Hoboken and surrounding areas. Learn more about your options.
Traditional dentures

Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures rest on the gumline and stay in place through suction and a denture adhesive. They are custom-made to fit your smile with your choice of restorative materials. Traditional dentures are removable and require daily maintenance, but are generally more affordable than implant-supported alternatives. Traditional denture treatment does not require surgery, so we can design, fit, and craft your permanent restoration in a shorter period of time.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures are fixed in place, connected to surgically installed dental implants. Implant posts provide unrivaled security and stability, so you never have to worry about your restoration shifting out of place when you eat or speak. Implant-supported dentures also improve your overall oral health by stimulating your tooth roots and preventing bone recession. Implant-retained restorations look virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth and can last for decades with proper care.

We Use High Quality Materials

Typically, full dentures are made of an acrylic base and porcelain or resin teeth. Partial dentures generally consist of a gum-colored plastic base, porcelain teeth, and small metal clasps. However, we also offer DuraFlex™ for those who prefer premium, flexible partial dentures. These prosthetics are composed of a state-of-the-art thermoplastic material that is easy to adjust and provides superior aesthetics.

Advancements in technology have made denture treatment easier than ever...

Restore Your Smile with High-Tech Dentistry

Our Jersey City, NJ, office utilizes cutting-edge technology to create the most comfortable and natural-looking restorations

CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) software creates more accurate images of your gums and mouth so our dentists can design restorations that offer a more precise fit.

Our CEREC technology takes 3-D scans of the mouth, replacing out dates 2-D x-rays. Furthermore, digital imaging is a more pleasant alternative to traditional, gummy palate impressions.

Procedure Timeline

The length of treatment will depend on the type of denture you receive. We strive to make the process as quick and convenient as possible while maintaining the high-quality standards our patients know and expect. Schedule an appointment at our Jersey City, NJ, practice to get started on treatment today.

If you decide to proceed with implant-supported restorations, we can recommend an experienced, conveniently located oral surgeon to place your dental implants. With traditional dentures, we may need to perform other preparatory procedures such as extractions to create a strong and solid foundation for your restoration.

Implant patients will need a few months to recover from surgery. The implant posts will fuse with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. Traditional denture candidates can proceed with impressions much sooner. After you recover from preparatory work, we take digital impressions of your mouth and design your denture.

Denture Construction

Your 3D scans and custom design will be sent to our trusted dental laboratory. Your denture will be manufactured out of your chosen materials in a period of one to two weeks.

Test Fit

In some cases, the lab will send us a wax mold of your denture to test for positioning and fit. We can make any corrections and adjustments on the test model, and return it for alternations.

Denture Placement

Once your final restorations are ready, you can return to our office to ensure proper fit. Our dentist can make any final adjustments and instruct you on proper use and maintenance. For implant patients, the restoration will be attached to the titanium implant posts and stay fixed in place.
