Repair Damaged or Decayed Teeth
with Lifelike Dental Crowns

If you are struggling with decayed or damaged teeth, dental crowns can restore full function and aesthetics to your smile. This lifelike restoration is placed over a compromised tooth, repairing its structure for improved strength and protection. At Jersey City Dental, we offer a variety of high quality dental crown materials to meet our patients varying needs, including zirconia and porcelain. For the right candidates, we can also provide same-day crowns to ensure convenient, efficient treatment. Our Jersey City, NJ, office is equipped with advanced CEREC technology, so we can expertly design and craft your personalized crown for a lasting, comfortable fit.

What are Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns are custom restorations that can be used to repair damaged or decayed teeth. These fixed prosthetics fit securely over your tooth to effectively restore its appearance and strength. Crowns may be combined with a pontic (artificial tooth) to create a dental bridge or affixed to a dental implant to replace the entire structure of a missing tooth. We work with a trusted dental laboratory to provide custom prosthetics within one week. However, for the right candidates, we also provide convenient, same-day crowns using advanced CEREC technology.

During the procedure, your doctor can reshape the natural tooth structure to ensure your custom dental crown fits comfortably in your smile.

Same-Day Crowns

A same-day crown is a durable, natural-looking restoration that can be created and placed in one appointment. Using our advanced CEREC system, we can take digital impressions of your smile and immediately upload them onto a computer screen. We can then use this 3-D mold to design your custom restoration, which will be sent to our in-house milling machine. For your convenience, this unit can manufacture your crown in under one hour.

Choosing the Right Material for You

Depending upon your needs, we offer a range of materials that can be used to create your custom dental crown, including:

  • Full ceramic: Full ceramic crowns are typically used to restore front teeth, as they are natural-looking and designed to blend seamlessly with your smile.
  • Porcelain fused to metal or zirconia: When porcelain is combined with zirconia or metal, it provides a stronger solution than ceramic alone, making it ideal for molars. However, crowns fused with metal may not be appropriate for patients with allergies or sensitivities to metallic substances.
  • Full zirconia: Restorations composed of full zirconia are the most durable, making them the best choice for patients who grind their teeth.

During your consultation, our doctors can provide an in-depth evaluation of your bite to determine the best option for you.

Creating & Placing Your Restoration

During treatment, our team can first prepare your tooth by gently removing damaged areas and a small portion of enamel. This process can ensure that your restoration fits securely in your smile. We can then take digital impressions of your bite using CEREC technology to create a mold for your customized restoration. This provides patients with a more comfortable and efficient alternative to the traditional impression procedure.

Receiving a dental crown has never been easier, with our convenient, streamlined treatment and advanced technology.

For patients who are not receiving a same-day crown, we will send your personalized design to our trusted dental laboratory where your restoration will be fabricated. To ensure your comfort, we can provide you with a temporary restoration to wear between appointments. During your follow-up visit, your doctor can replace your temporary crown with your custom prosthetic, ensuring proper fit and color. Once satisfied, we can then secure your crown in place to ensure a durable, lasting restoration.
